5 Haiku and 4 Senryu by Baisali Chatterjee Dutt

 



HAIKU

 

a spot of sky

amongst the grass...

holly blue butterfly

 

along the coast

an abundance of pink thrift...

candy floss on her cheeks

 

comets deep dive

from sky to sea...

guillemots

 

pink moon

caught in the branches...

goodnight kiss

 

rows of flowers

face the sun

...nature worship


 

SENRYU

 

broken vase –

she pretends to be

a ballerina

 

rush of winds

along the cliffs...

tragic love story

 

alone with a fever...

missing mamma’s soup

       and mamma

 

shortening of days...

grandma’s evening walks

at a standstill
