Five Poems by Sharon Ferrante
What Is Wicca
a wise Witch
once told me
it’s fresh
cut grass
lending
its tender scent
to gifted feet
so I walked
We Previously
feared the time
what’s unseen
and a poet’s head
below a guillotine
no matter
the century
or how a bell rings
we fear
a broken tooth
chewing on
the monster things
Cherita
thunder quickens
a hawk descends
beyond the cabin
Leonard Cohen
pours another wine
for the traveller
Tanka
I’m at your door
in haunted rain
no keys! no keys!
—belladonna
at my feet
Haiku
lonely road
then—that one candle
in a window
