Three Poems by Abuzar

THE LAST PHOTOGRAPH

In the last photograph,
we are laughing at something
already forgotten.
I keep it facing down now —
some laughter
should not be framed.

DUST

Grief is only dust
that settles on everything
and refuses to be wiped away.
I have stopped cleaning.
Let it cover me.
Let it prove
you were here.

TRAIN

The train I never took
still leaves at midnight.
I hear its whistle
in every decision
I was too afraid to make.
