Five Fantasy Tanka Poems
he spies through the trees
the maiden and unicorn
dare he break their spell
she kneels beside the creature
both pure as crystal waters
the maiden and unicorn
dare he break their spell
she kneels beside the creature
both pure as crystal waters
he whispers we live
dragon’s breath a low rumble
his touch anchors her
as they escape together
the cavern of gold and scales
two strangers enter
castle chamber lined in mirrors
they gaze into glass
no reflection do they see
enchantment reveals their truth
deep in twilight woods
glowing mushrooms lights her path
sings lost elven song
remembering her homeland
music mingles with magic
dragon nursery
tucked beneath a mountain keep
trembling hatchling
baby takes food from her palm
run before mother comes back
