Ten Haiku by R.C. Thomas

Haiku:

the old ways of rocks

eelgrass limpets

cling to their past

shutting down for the night

streetlights dim

for the skunk

porcupine season—

a thinning spruce

grows new twigs

drought

on the horizon

longhorns licking up dew

volcano

rabbit

on

the

verge

of

historic

ash

full moon crossing

free-tailed bats

leave night in a cave

high ambitions…

chinstrap penguins

build upon their nest

hiding

glass sponge skeletons

closet sea

life in the brinicle

winter casts

invertebrates

blubber markings...

the drop zones

of snow
