Five Poems by Kyle Hemmings

winter kills

an abandoned tenement
on avenue  z
second floor darkness
erasing memory of sun
a woollen blanket
withholding their heat
will they ever wake up

club kids

two club kids
jack & Jill
underside of their dreams
containing bar codes

dancin’ w/ jack & Jill

12 bourbons
14  bronsons
three left feet

jack & Jill as prophets

love affairs
vacuum cleaners
when used—
disassemble

after hours

under late night neon
he rapes
her reflection
he walks home
clutching glass shards
empty
&
bleeding once again

Kyle Hemmings has been published in Dark Entries, Cold Moon Journal, Right Hand Pointing, and elsewhere. He likes listening to obscure 60s garage bands.
