Five Poems by Anna Maria Mickiewicz

The Cottage and old tree

shiny ivy leaves are flashing

overgrown with a green heart

green-greyish branches

further!

they bash proudly with bark

they jump invisibly over the tree trunk

from slivers of chestnuts lavenders of old nests of dry grass

wetlands

red clay

houses are twisted with age

the windows are silent

Regent’s Park

he proposed to

invisible clouds

in Regent’s Park.

and she

tangled by a rose muslin

circled by the sun

her golden feet

walked through the glass door

under the sky suspended

on a steel clock

at the top of Victorian towers

on a misty evening

The Ballad of Penzance

slapstick

  fringed

            trumpeting

the ocean with a bang is reminding

with its glare seeks the castaways

Tristan and Isolde

with shanties of turquoise waves

threatens...

to repentant boulders

to stone towers

conquered fortresses

portuguese galleons

and they are astonished

shrouded in ballads

with an age of brass

with song

they slumber

Canvas in Cornwall

heathering city

the evening rotten and yellowish

sloping

a pear

falling to the ground

looking into the depth

the line in the horizon is blurred

in a moment, the red of the west

will shout

greyness...

the canvas tired with colour unveils its nakedness

Miracles of Socrates

miracles!

you say Socrates...

it was because of you that Jaspers shouted

Self...!

Self is self in English

and from under the pen sparkles

a sugar crystal

a heavenly wind carries away

your frail hand

my friend...
