Two Poems by Raja Chakraborty

Of Potholes

they left

not even a goodbye

curtains

reaching out in air

for a last hug

a door

with arms spread open

welcome written large

like a gaping hole

wide greedy eyes

hungry for love

lonely shadow

touching darkness

reminds me of potholes

in yawning roads

people skirt by

but do not repair

Of Taste

does grief taste like salt

I asked my tongue

as it licked the fallen tears

depends, replied the tongue

sometimes, when you are parched

it can taste sweet
