Ekphrastic Escher Series 1 - Six Poems by R.W. Stephens

Ekphrastic Escher Series 1

Waterfall

Flow ever upward

Water falls turning old cogs

The laundry is clean

Ascending and Descending

Purgatory souls

Climb but never reach heaven

Continual trudge

Ascending and Descending

Tower of heaven

Hooded serfs always reaching

Never staying long

Other World

Arched columns above

Ba birds guarding portals

Other worldly planes

Three Worlds

World of reflection

World of the dying season

Old contemplations

Hand with Reflective Sphere

Existential view

Self and hand in reflection

Contemplates choices
