Winter Dreams - A Poem in Six Parts by Alan Catlin

Winter Dreams

1-

Heavy Spring snow on lilac branches.

Two gone so far.

2-

Mutability:

Almost hot Winter day.

Snow melt rivers.

A week later:

two more feet of snow.

3-

Late night sound of freight trains

moving through town.

Where they are sounds

change directions.

Depending upon the wind.

4-

Homage to Li Po:

Drinking wine.

The way you loved me,

a red stain on white carpet.

5-

Mandelstam:  Reading by candle light.

Creased pages. Poems in two languages.

The blurred edges of his life, fading.

6-

Snow laden trees. Strong image poems;

Plath’s last dreams.
