Four Poems by Angel Edwards

Celebrity Light

Burned by

the spotlight

exhausted

hunting limelight

Backlit gas lit

by daylight

by moonlight

try

evanescence

hiding

just

out of sight

Nightmare Rules

Welcome to DreamLand

May your time passed here be happy

Or may it at least be interesting and educational

Feast with your eyes alone

At all costs do not repeat do not eat any dream food

You may however drink your fill of the dream water

Do not believe anything that anyone tells you here

Keep in mind nothing and nobody is as they appear to be

You will have the ability to fly if you believe it to be so

If you fall while flying you will be expelled from DreamLand and the dream will end

You will possess precious priceless jewels and all manner of amazing toys airplanes boats cars flying horses

But nothing can be removed from DreamLand!

Dream kisses are dangerous exchanges

Leading to unresolved yearrings

And the pain this brings follows one

Into the waking world

For nothing in the waking world could compare to a dream lover

In Dreamland you will become

The Master of your own destiny

Your world is yours to create

However Dreamland is ruled by the silver night mares

They travel in herds like wild horses

But they are certainly not horses

The night-mares will stampede you if they notice you

To avoid being trampled

Grab the long silver mane of the first night-mare

and hold on for dear life

Now jump right on the back

and ride safely through the oceans and skies and grounds of Dreamland

Nightmare

I dreamed I was in a strange place

I did not recognize any face

But then there were some that were friends

They did not look the same it wasn't really them

They were playing a game

with Tarot cards

'pick a card'

they said

While I held my breath

Their eyes stabbed at me

Cold and unfeeling strangers

And I drew the card of death

Retreat

Shut your eyes
lock your lips
close your ears

Delve into your deepest
depths of fears

Snuggle
cuddle
in your sanctuary

escape the noise
the outside is
loud scary
