Three Poems by Michael H. Brownstein

 



In the Heat of a Sleep

 

dream catcher caught dreams,

but his nightmare--no--

that came back--alive

 

 

An Island Floats Down the Missouri

 

the sun sneezes, her nose snot-filled,

the landscape wakes to palisades of color--

a short breath of wind stretches over us

sitting in our garden of perfume and dew:

 

our garden of patterns and bark,

wood carvings and a degradation of wood.

 

Sometimes heaven comes in the rain of a sneeze,

 

STORM

white scars of light

across branches of cloud

train wreck of thunder

and then ice rock fell

 

 

Sun Storm

 

Somehow a rainbow can harvest the sky,

and a dragonfly over murky black waters 

wears a rainbow on its wings--

 

and over there: 

wild horses of the sky

wind race 

gathering rain,

 

but where did the ice rock come from?
