One Poem by Bernard Pearson

Dark  Lord

I have  a friend,  who is  a panther

He knows  all about the birds

And the  bees,  he catches parakeets,

Rips their hearts out, still singing.

As for the bees,  he follows them

Climbs to  the hive.

And with his barbarous tongue,

Licks  it clean and leaves It

To its geometry.

He  gleams in his coat of dusk

Widens, his  night club eyes,

Yet  hunter becomes hunted.

He  knows  what he knows

Understand the scent  of blood,

But  how will he survive,

In the clearing,  no shaman to protect him,

Just the Amazon shimmering like

Mercury between his claws.
