Two Poems by Blaise Langlois

Requiem for a Star

A blanket of fire

each spark

revealed upon the velvet sky.

This fleeting moment

where an illuminated past

travel weary

exhausted

finds rest

within our naked eye.

Making acquaintance

with this celestial beauty

we are at a loss.

For once captured by our sight

it has since faded

dispersed amongst the cosmos

as yesterday’s implosion.

Stargazing

The smallness of self

lost in the ether

tasting light,

discovering the secrets that time has buried.

Experts in illusion

convincing us of this:

that we too, are

shrunken

forgotten

and

insignificant

amongst the stars.

Emerging author and Pushcart Prize nominee, Blaise Langlois, will never turn down the chance to tell a creepy story. You are sure to find her writing in between teaching and raising four beautiful children, or feverishly scratching out ideas (which, to the chagrin of her supportive husband, usually occurs just after midnight). She has a penchant for horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Her publications include short fiction and poetry through: Space and Time Magazine, Black Spot Books, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association,  Eerie River Publishing, Black Hare Press, Pulp Factory E-zine and Ghost Orchid Press.
