One Poem by Bruce Morton

Taking Measure

There are two ways

At least, so they say,

To take measure

Of our journey. One is

To look back to see

How far it is we have

Come (or is it gone?).

The second is to look

Ahead to see how far

There is yet to go.

Distance travelled

May be a good topic

For conversation, so,

Too, the way stops.

Then there is, of course,

The matter of company,

Which is not inconsequential,

And is so beyond measure.

Bruce Morton splits his time between Montana and Arizona.  He was formerly Dean of Libraries at Montana State University.
