Two Poems by Sharon Waller Knutson

Colour me Blue

As the jay flying

through the sky,

and the crayfish

swimming in the sea.

Colour me pink

as a Flamingo sloshing

through the swamp

in long legs and neck.

Colour me yellow

as the sunshine,

canaries and the bees

on the sunflowers.

Colour me red as the cardinal

and the scarlet macaw

following the fox

from the forest.

Colour me green

as the lizard, Anaconda

and praying mantis

hiding in the grass.

Goodbye

the taste

of cinnamon

and citrus

on your lips

the scent

of lilies

and lilacs

in your hair

the touch

of frost

and ice

on your skin

and the sound

of the fog

horn

in your voice.
