One Poem by Angel Edwards

Guardians

Stands the stone angel

inanimate record keeper

stone pen with etched plume

writing in

stone made opened ledger

in still attendance

dance three porcelain cupids

newly ground snow white designed clay

already show slightly chipped wings

these ornaments

are fragile things

they are not built to stay

for now they live

in the moonlit graveyard

but they do not live

The stone angel record keeper

the three porcelain cupids

they have never lived

they will never die

watching over

the once living

long gone or newly dead

their presence

calmly thrilling

respect yet

best not

regard them with dread

guardians of the graveyard
