One Prose Poem by Angel Edwards

If it were possible

If it were possible to rewind

retrace the footsteps of history

if the explorers could return to their intrusive entry

into this so-called alleged 'New World'

could they not have been kindler gentler

more interested in a different culture

from people who lived in such a far away place

why wouldn't they have assumed that the people living in this "Old World" held entitlement to this

strange beautiful land which they were setting foot on (without being invited)

Why did they come with hearts so full of hatred and ignorance

Was there a mutual fear on both parts for the invaders and the invaded

put in a human sense how can anybody possibly be on the side of the invaders
