Three Poems by Angel Edwards

A SPIRIT FELL ASLEEP

a spirit fell asleep

inside a pumpkin

one Halloween

Then the songs

of bells and carolling

It was Christmas Eve

possessed by snow fall

The first snow he

had ever seen

a spirit danced

inside a snowball

Melted again

Now the world

rebirth of spring

returned to green

Paperless Purgatory

Walking up a staircase,

take care

Look

each step is a book

staircase in the middle

Steep scary

Climb the steps

surreal library

books and paper money

fall from the walls

pages fly from books

from the ceiling falls

untold stories

countless

Many an unopened book

The world has become

paperless

Old flames

I’ll take my tears and drown them in the ocean
Can’t take the years of unreturned devotion

Now when love dies
You realize
It was all just a dream
Illusions
keep you warm at night

Oh no
I’ve lost another friend
Oh no
Never fall in love again

Dreams can hurt when they lie
Broken dreams, make you cry

The pain will change into a memory
Tender tale of love, not meant to be

Oh no, I’ve lost another friend

Oh no, never fall in love again
