Three Poems by Yuu Ikeda

From Here to Perugia, with Love

How is the weather in Perugia?

Where I am is sunny.

The sky is more clear and blue than anywhere.

Fragments of clouds on the sky

are like calm notes on a sheet music.

I wish that the melody including silent passion that the sky is playing

reached to Perugia where you are.

When you look up at the sky,

I wish that the melody of cheering to you,

the melody of applause to you,

reached to you.

The sky is always with you,

always with us.

From here,

to Italia, Perugia,

with love.

a nameless human

the world ignores her.

so,

she also ignores the world.

she is nowhere in the world.

so,

she is freer than everyone.

whenever she hopes,

she can look up at the bluish sky.

whenever she hopes,

she can gaze at the vivid orange horizon.

any malice and hate

can't interfere with her.

she is the freest human,

a nameless human.

the gun

always,

the gun named ‘Time’

is pointed at my head.

i just put my hands up,

and hope to be released from the gun.

the gun without

any sounds,

any colors,

any coldness,

any warmth.

the cruel gun that

only the past keeps on piling up.

who will shoot the gun?

when will the one shoot the gun?
