Seeing Sleep Four Times & Snow Melt Four Times - Poems by Alan Catlin

Seeing Sleep Four Times

            1

Looking up from under

water, the movement

of clouds

            2

Sleep, letting go

of the body,

the mind moves on

            3

Light through gaps

between broken trees.

New day colors,

blue sky and rising sun,

almost liquids

            4

Bone white trees,

moon shadows on

still water.

Nothing moves

Snow Melt Four Times

            1

Plastic flamingoes

in the snow; icicles

where their beaks

should be

            2

Heads of garden gnomes

reappear, snow melting!

            3

Moon over Central Park,

even the manmade

lake looks real

            4

After the snow melt

newsprint buried

in mud; all the dirty words

Alan Catlin has published dozens of chapbooks and full-length books. He latest published works include How Will the Heart Endure (about life and work of Diane Arbus( from Kelsay Books and listening to the Moonlight Sonata from Impspired (UK).
