Ten Haiku Poems by Daipayan Nair

Haiku by Daipayan Nair

1.

winter lane gossip

she jumps to smash

the shuttlecock

2.

jasmine heap

the woman knitting

a fresh bargain

3.

neem shade squeal —

a group of children attempt

the alphabet

4.

orange farm dusk

she adds another shade

to the basket

5.

fresh jujubes —

a schoolgirl skips down

the village lane

6.

grandma's toes

a giggling child hits

the first keynote

7.

haystack

the young farmer lifts

his lungi

8.

village noon —

a woman ties the clothesline

between two neems

9.

jumping

over the chicken coop

bus conductor

10.

last box of pears

a man double taps

the truck door
