Ten Haiku Poems by Joshua St. Claire

Ten Haiku Poems

snowstorm

all the trees

are birches

lenten rose

my son tells me

they are snowdrops

birds-eye veronica

reclining on the sky

to watch the clouds

suncups

a doe digs

for withered grass

the rabbit hears

the wing-snap of a falcon

blizzard warning

frozen ground

the squirrel unearths

the Hunger Moon

the crescent moon

lies in the jackrabbit warren

red fox

yellow black walnut leaves

will we ever be well again?

Yakima sun

filling my lungs

Ponderosa pine

Long Night Moon

listening

for his breath
