Cutting
Board
Chopped,
diced, julienned, peeled
did
as pleased
whole
turned into bits
shaped
as wished
without
resisting
the
'why' of which
pitifully
pricked
was
there a choice?
was
there a voice?
Nah!
There
were promises to keep
Responsibilities
to fulfil
Fear
of rejection
Lack
of courage
Dependency
Labelled
woman
Confined
within
boundaries
Shredding
continued
till
there was nothing
soul
ground to dust
in
mortar pestle
Wine bottle
That's
what you did
pierced
the epidermis
pulled
the cork
drank
to your fill
bottoms
up
the last drop drained
slept
like an infant
Bottle
rolled on the bed
unfulfilled
too
quickly you sipped
not
savouring the taste
not
appreciating contents
focused
on
self-gratification
Bottle
discarded
imploded
under stress
treated
with contempt
vehicle
for release
of
anger, frustration
bottle breathing
corkscrewed
with
unspent passions
Capitulation
upon
your word, I relied
gave
of myself blindfolded
without
thinking twice
petals
parted aside
like
the Venus fly trap
untouched,
virginal white
void
remained inside
patterned
mechanical strokes
passions
failed to ignite
in
due course died
inhaling
an overdose of lust
punctured
by love bites
perforated
edged voice
sliced
with a sharp knife
muted for life
