Three tan-renga (collaborative tanka), Haiku and Tanka by Kimberly Kuchar and Eavonka Ettinger

Three tan-renga (collaborative tanka)

by Kimberly Kuchar and Eavonka Ettinger

tiny top hat
in a hole in the garden
gentleman toad
at the formal banquet
a business of flies

stretching antennae
after a three year nap
the snail emerges
sluggish conversation
warms in the afternoon sun

next to my oar
a frog floats by
on a little boat
with a quiet nod
we glide side by side

A tanka by Kimberly Kuchar

emerging
from the moon
in the cold lake
a woman with white hair
offers me a golden key

A haiku by Eavonka Ettinger

wonderment
enchanted forest
learns to speak

Eavonka Ettinger arrived at haiku after a journey through theatre, film, spoken word poetry, and teaching. She is grateful to her writing community for inspiration and growth. A few places her work has appeared are Haiku Dialogue, Poetry Pea, Haiku In Action, Failed Haiku, and Cold Moon Journal. She lives in Long Beach, CA with her husband and cat.

Kimberly Kuchar has always loved writing. Recently, she has jumped deeper into short-form poetry and waded into collaborative poetry and haibun. Her work has appeared in multiple journals, including Prune Juice Journal, Cold Moon Journal, Failed Haiku, Scarlet Dragonfly Journal, and Drifting Sands. Kimberly lives near Austin with her husband and son. While she's writing this, her pet cockatiel is sitting on her shoulder.
