Four Poems by James D. Casey IV

Questions VS Answers in the Lost & Found

Where does the void bring your mind in silence?
Where does your mind bring the void in noise?

I've lived in the roach-infested low of a self-made false paradise.
Died in the child-minded high of laughing in the sun.
Hit rock bottom at the top of the world.
Running from reality with idle hands.

Found peace of mind in chaos, while following the underdog rule.
Burning bridges and pouring gas on the ashes to watch them burn again.
Basking in the light with my old friend darkness.

Where do I aim the spark of my next creation?
I've been wrong so many times when it comes to self-expression.
Not realizing the spark was always there.
I didn't need to chase it, but being happy was never quite enough.

Believe it or not.
The genuine article.
A glutton for punishment.

Screaming into the proverbial face of nothingness.
I find myself again.

We Are All One—

offs and one-time deals
once upon a times

feeling you're not the one
makes you the one
or so eye've heard
one by one
headed for the same end
in one way or another

tune in fine tone
the Funk is on the one

one life
one love
one race

human

the one thing
holding us together
on this one planet

one tiny blue atom
in the grand scheme of it all
with one way out
down a one-way street

Chaos Over Love Over Chaos

growing old and bored
in a smoky room's
soggy dream
burnt out
in line
walking dead

path to nowhere
somewhere bound
losing my mind
on lost words

"no one here makes it out alive"

yet I'm living
right now

"alive she cried"

nothing left to do
but ride it out
this is it

wild horses & choices made

a moment can live forever
if you want it, too

Call it What You Will

the longer you stay pinned to the pain
the longer it owns you
sinking into a dangerous bog
of loss–of–self

shackled ... drowning

break this trance and breathe
again

break those chains and exist
again

honor the ghosts
of what used to be
if anything

love must have a eulogy
death will have us all
forever moment
memory's kiss

time to live

as no tomorrow
never was
