Learning To Appreciate Character
Scalpel a BLANK PAGE
with ‘Character’…
vulture-words
and barbed wire epitaphs.
I remember her standing
at the kitchen sink
when she started
… u-n-r-a-v-e-l-l-i-n-g…
“I can’t cope with this!”
he declared, turning
…away… from
her (Outstretched) hand.
‘Needs Unmet’
should never become
an acceptable condition
… or you’ll end up
settling for Barbarism…
and completely MISS
OUT on ‘First Kisses’
which lead to adventures
and partnerships Magical.
William’s Group is ‘Ignoring’ the geezer
with… Attention-Seeking Disorder…
for (Cruel) Sport… he’s going Crazy,
not understanding that he is, in fact,
the very Centre of everything occurring.
‘Gambit’ without a friendly smile,
nonchalance, or condescension…
and whilst they are busy waiting
for the slightest trace of either of the 3,
‘Withdraw’ your Move definitively…
your next turn (with adequate distance)
gives you the Advantage immediately.
She’s all ‘Heart’ and ‘Backbone’…
the trouble is in finding a bloke
who’s man enough to match her Alpha.
Where I come from, ‘Mountains’
are both Playgrounds and Battlefields…
and Watch as people journey Full-Circle.
Albatross those Oceans of Life
… ‘Straight as a crow flies’
when you can, weasel
and fox it when needs must.
I’ve always ‘Corrected’
myself… no-one has ever
given me practical
or helpful advice (I worked
everything smooth, alone),
except when criticising ‘Bad
Behaviour’… cheers yeah,
I already know when I’m
being a rascal ‘bout the place.
Coming from the ‘Heart’
doesn’t necessarily
mean being Vulnerable
… it’s about being ‘Honest’,
and Walking your ‘Road’ True.
Warm, intricate, cross-stitch whispers
… from a mouth
full of pure-hearted ‘Good Will’…
and, we stopped our Noise
and Brashness… stepping
down from (Preposterous)
Soapboxes to spectate, quietly.
“All vulnerable like that…
ain’t she afraid of being attacked?”
“ssSSSssSH!”
‘Blankets for Comfort not Hiding’,
she claimed…
and ‘Frowns’ are useful
for ‘Concentrating’ not ‘Worrying’.
“I’m falling in Love with her,”
I murmured, gobsmacked…
“I’d fight you, immediately
… if I thought either one of us
had a chance,” responded our host,
“but, I’m afraid… she’s far too
ethereal to be caged by passing fancy.”
Undercurrents and Bottom Feeders
… and the pockets of Fresh Air…
which bubbles between them both.
I ‘Fixate’ upon Craftsmanship
and Self-Improvement only…
all else is glancing consideration
… I’m looking beyond the Present.
“Nobody gets away with Trouble,”
she informed me with a wise smile,
“I’ll be 94 years old this December
… and I’ve seen lucky, charming
men, and beautiful women… Bury
themselves whilst Attacking others.”
