6 Haiku & 1 Haiku Sequence by Dr. Randy Brooks

6 Haiku & 1 Haiku Sequence by Dr. Randy Brooks

one swing open

the race to be the first

weasel in

not quite dawn

waking up with three haiku

in bed

red fox squirrel

in case we didn’t notice

the flicking tail

off kilter steps

father’s mountain adventure

a bit wobbly

opening striped wings

everyone knows

he’s an admiral

outdoor wedding

in her getaway suitcase

a fold-up easel

Mail-Order

mail jeep makes it

through the snow

a box of chicks

new hatchlings

the calm voice

of mother

huddled together

one corner close to

the stove

scruffy side up

the chick we couldn’t

save

dad’s horse sneeze!

all the babies

silenced

no more cardboard walls

stubby wing flap

over fresh straw
