One Poem by Denise Commins

Kerkyra

After Edward Thomas

Yes. I remember Greek coffee

on the tiny patio at Theodore’s place

Prickly pear, Oleander yellow, toxic.

Tumbling Bougainvilla on the cliff face

Dew on rusty railings, cicadas chirping from afar

Old Giovanna sweeping in her flowery housecoat

Blue sky following an overnight thunderstorm

The red domed church bells pealing note after note.

Two brown skylarks sing and soar

Early morning haze, humidity high

     Kalimera, Corfu, Kalimera

 bluebottles drone, mosquitoes sigh

Denise Commins writes poetry for a hobby. She resides in Galway Ireland.
