Three Poems by Anne Mikusinski

Diagrams

Life is a pie chart

Shade it three-quarters

Due to waiting

For news

Or answers

Or reasons why

But keep that one-fourth bright

For moments

Kept in memory.

Three AM

Outside

The rain whispers

Playing counterpart to  sounds

Inside

Soft tapping of keys

Give birth to ideas

Baby-stepping their way

Across blank pages.

From another room

Brushed drumbeats and low strings

Spread light upon a scene of

Quiet work

And little sleep

As Yet

Tonight I read

As if you were listening

Attentively

While hidden

In a quiet corner

3  lit

And undisclosed

But there.

As underneath

An imaginary spotlight

I revealed

My true intentions.
