Four Poems by Jyoti Nair

Soliloquy

My nerves have itchy, irked whiskers.

Alas, they don't have upper lips.

Where the whiskers could sit, put their feet up.

Hence, my nerves don't know how to rest.

They are usually staggering.

You may ask, do they also simmer?

They don't...

They are cold excavators.

Gelid. Siberian. Sombre.

There's not even an iota of warm tendon in them.

And they abhor yellow or anything in that array.

They are predators of charcoal woods.

Plausibly, this is a scathed 'soliloquy',

Grinning through their entombed gashes...

IKIGAI

I is the eye of a cataclysmic cumulus

Kaizen brewing squall, our windshields are on trial

I is the bloodshot iris of the Terebinth

Gills are ruptured, mayhem amongst piranhas

Auroras tearing vocal-cords, through purple sopranos

I is the languid white, hope-frills stitching dawn

Pain

Chapped lips of Red Cardinals

Causing bruises

As they kiss bare-naked horizons

Those horizons have been simmering...

Midriffs of equinoxes,

Parks that the horizons scurry through

Reddish bellowing midriffs

Stranded on the empyrean patio...

As gods are busy, tasting the concentration of tannins

In Cabernet Sauvignon, served along with supper!

Ruthless gods who shun soup bowls!

Pain:

Edgy strands of sopranos

Lingering on scorched tongues

Of clobbered Saturn rings

Torn...Trimmed...Wrapped...

Around my shrieking palms

Pain:

Hammocks where skies swing

In the arms of tattered cerulean-prattles

Blind stars keep polishing their nibs

Strayed Orion, awaits a pair of shoes

While dreams scramble for sleep,

Tucked under illusions of aurora woollens

when we kiss

the lighthouse on the Orion alley

will wake up, will be our silhouette

her glances, will sketch our lips...

our lucent-love, our dandelion-smiles

will be sprayed on the sapphire shoulders

of the seraphim wings, as they quiver...

our sweat-salt, will be diffused into the Stygian river

who hasn't felt any foam on her toes

since aeons...
