One Poem by Susan Tepper

Untended

Call the living the dead

denying a future

however blunted.

Well-wishers encased

in ice blocks

shipped off to

places melting slowly.

Your desire.

To remain

aloof while we tremble.

Your fantasy by rights.

Then a fall in darkness.

In humble gardens untended

tree roots pushing up

through the ground their own.

Susan Tepper is a twenty year writer and the author of nine published books of fiction and poetry.  Her most recent are a poetry chap CONFESS (Cervena Barva Press, 2020) and a funky road novel WHAT DRIVES MEN (Wilderness House Press, 2019).
