Three Poems by Angel Edwards

Passengers on Train

purple suited man

rises from the fifteenth row

solitary breeze

still he closes the window

people seem to sleep

in rows eleven to one

the train travels on

breaks before the setting sun

purple suited man

greets a lady dressed in black

she has silver hair

they were lovers sometime back

Through their lens of love

Neither one has aged at all

feelings have endured

Happy friendship they recall

Lockdown

They passed on the street

their eyes met

they both turned around

to look at each other again

The man disappeared

around the corner

Her minds blue eye followed him

nobody else was on the street

everyone was practising

social distancing

a new term sounded pleasant

it has a sinister meaning

He was dressed in

a azure shiny velvety long coat

She was not dressed up at all only venturing out after six days so far

self isolation

she was eager for some air and scenery

anything to alleviate the morning hopefully nothing frightening

nothing to make it more stressful

to be outside

to be alive

during the plague shutdown

historic event

modern medieval

he noticed her following him

slowed his pace

It's the end of walking side-by-side

and eventually hand-in-hand

Two strangers completely disobedient to the law of social distancing

But it didn't matter because he was of course a ghost

HE LIVES IN HIS HEAD

The gentleman on the 21st floor

charms with his collections

of one hundred wise or witty seemingly

his honest reflections

When the hundred

phrases

have been said

his memory erases

He lives in his head
