Five Haiku Poems by Deborah A. Bennett

Five Haiku

before the wound

becomes a word.

say. "flower."

take your heart

to the light on the roof.

say. "moon."

to understand nothing

takes time  -

waning crescent moon

life in this world  -

mandala of sand

swept away

the evening bell

the leaf fires also

fade to nothing

weep not my friends

i have grown old too -

cicada moon

Deborah A. BennettWriting haiku for fifty years, Deborah A. Bennett's poems have most recently appeared in Wales Haiku Journal, Fresh Out Mag and The Amethyst Review.
