Three Haiku & One Poem by Sharon Ferrante

I dream

I’m kissing Jack Kerouac

a cat jumps on my face

my lightsabre

points to the dark side

Yoda rolls his eyes

a blue egg

I wonder could it hatch

in the cold nest of my hand

I Want That Cactus

with the yellow flowers

that grow from the well

inside itself

it lives down the road

where ghosts roll around

like leaves

they get to touch it

I bet they go in that room

the one with the satin rope

bounce on the plastic

chew a bit

on the table grapes

I ask them

to do a night dig for me

then drop it on my steps

I head out

in the morning

barefoot

all the leaves are laughing
