Three Poems by Karen Lynn Kerekes

The Purge

a lifetime

of mementoes

collected,

consuming

closets

and minds,

fragments

from moments

both broken

and beautiful

of people,

places

and things

cleared away

to uncover

the lost space

inside ourselves

The Space Between

somewhere

a place exists

between letting go

and holding on

that settles

and satiates

our anxious spirit,

a place

where we no longer

lament

over what is lost

or cling to

what we wish

would be,

surrendering

in this space

to exhale,

and

embrace,

that which

merely is

Unspoken Words

in stillness

God speaks,

calling us

away

from the incessant

ramblings

and unnecessary

clamour

and surrounds

and deters us

from our desired

destiny,

helping us

to declutter the

silence and sift

through the

extraneous

to hear,

enlightenment

echo

the authenticity

of our own

salvation
