Ten Haiku by Margaret Kiernan

Haiku

Venus and the moon

Love’s shadow on petals

Tumbling freely.

Daylight and night

The muse and I hang out

Rarely eye to eye.

Cat on the couch

Daring to imbibe the pie

Sulks instead.

Evening glows

Along the boughs of green

Above the darkness.

Clock upon the wall

Hear your tip-tap sound

Tea for two o’ clock.

Spangled prisms

Tone of colour arches above

Waters sprinkles.

Doffed or scoffed

It is very hard to ignore

The rounded pin.

Without clamour

I stand and watch the clouds

Lapping soft winds.

Seeped colour glade

Sways in refracted light

Stills the mind.

Out-loud or tinkly

Fade to mere artificial

Go for golden sob.
