Three Poems by Linda M. Crate

in all her colors

as the sunlight

dances through the trees

i feel the magic

singing

all around me

once a majestic crow

welcomed me,

crow song dances all around

when i am in the wood;

dark wings with sweet dreams

i know they are misunderstood

just as much as i always was

we are kin and both of us have

dreams of skies where we fly free

as the judgment of others

melts away

in the wings of the sun and we are

embraced by all the magic and purity

of light in all her colors.

with a sight beyond sight

there was a red capped mushroom

which showed me a faerie

tiny little thing

soft but sharp

like the rose bush with her

soft petals and her cutting

thorns,

and you cannot help but smile

because you knew this wood was

always magic

in a world that refuses to believe

what it cannot see;

but your eyes have always

captured the beauty

and your ears the music and your heart

the enchantments of magic that

others simply walked past

not knowing just what they were missing.

a faerie queen

once there was

a faerie queen

she still has a part

of my heart,

her beauty was that

of pink sunsets and white roses;

her music a song no one has

ever been able to sing to me since—

sometimes there is magic

you only feel once,

and she is one of those magics;

you can never repeat—

& one would say there are other

hymns, other spells, and other faerie queens;

and that may very well be

but there will never be another

green finch quite like her in my lifetime

unless i meet her in the next.
