Three Haiku Triptych Poems by Samo Kreutz

Three Breaths into Stone (a haiku triptych)

some forms take shape between scent and stillness

sculpture workshop ...
an apprentice carves
the mint scent

chisel pause ...
his breath settling
deep into stone

dust motes ...
just half shaped
her son's face

With a Shadow on the Shoulder (a haiku triptych)

some moments pass through us silently – yet stay longer than the sound

freedom parade ...
the child keeps
asking

june bride ...
a sudden breeze rises
from the graveyard

grey light ...
the tea left steaming
in two cups

What Slips Between (a haiku triptych)

every breath leaves a shadow

olive orchard ...
breath she gives
to the stars

dry petals ...
what else he meant
to say

lantern light ...
the moth circles
our silence
