Ten Moon Haiku by Joshua St. Claire

Ten Moon Haiku

the call of a ghost owl
piercing the cirrostratus moon
2:00 AM

holding onto its darkness wet moon

the moon
in the sky
turning blue

not quite a contrail disappearing over the day moon

the ice moon rising
over the Susquehanna
apotheosis

the Chesapeake Bay
the deepening indigo
of her moonless night

not the moon
but moonlight
salt mist

a cloud behind
a cloud behind
the moon

altostratus moon
the white hydrangeas
at the back of the garden

deeper
into the scent of oleander
red moon
