Solitude: Wide Awake Dreaming Four Times - 4 Poems by Alan Catlin

Solitude: Wide Awake Dreaming Four Times

1-

Glenn Gould’s Solitude Trilogy:

Midnight sun nights

well below zero,

low gray clouds and

a prevailing wind brings

snow and fresh ice;

disembodied voices

in the night

2-

Wide Awake Dreaming:

Vincent’s Absinthe drinkers,

the grim pallor of their

lusterless, textured skin;

the green fairy is upon them

3-

Sylvia’s Winter Trees:

The bent contours of

her dreams; shadows

cast inside

4-

Last Get Down Boogie Blues:

Double  bass man and

a blind pianist getting

down with a tenor sax,

smoke rings the spot lit

stage; even the cocktail

waitress stops to listen
