Five Poems by Charles A. Perrone

Dreamed Vs. Dreamt

dreams are dreamt and meant to occur

dreams are dreamed and deemed to be

dreams are dreamt to justify oneiric activity

dreams are dreamed to unleash imagination

dreams are dreamt to enjoy spatial disorientation

dreams are dreamed to so go with aerial flotation

dreams are dreamt to let logic lose its few bearings

dreams are dreamed to allow illogic to gain steams

dreams are dreamt to compare cool comparisons

dreams are dreamed daily and nightly to be sure

dreams are dreamt to be fertile fodder in jovial journals

dreams are dreamed to be folly filler in frightful freefall

dreams are dreamt / dreamed as participles

participating in practical parcels of time travel

dreams are dreamt and dreamed over and over

in endless ceaseless unyielding consistent rotations....

Heard and Word

What I thought I heard the singer singing was

< I don’t know if the sky’s becoming blue comes from God
or if the colour that makes the day blue might come from your eyes>

That, I really did feel, was truly a romantic expression of wonder.
But I could not help adding that I remain sceptical.

For how do I know if the supposed supreme being cited even exists?

Or if the perception of celestial azure is not just another optical illusion?
Perchance the very blueness of the heavens itself constitutes the divine.
And the reflections of admired vision may be just a form of diversion.
In any case, we might all remain less restive

if songs simply did not prompt such divination.

Bone generates Bone (Hunches for Hutches)

a jovial chap wonders

to whom he could sell a substantial set of china

authentic imported bone china, floral pattern,

of which each service-for-several may represent

the promise of a family with friends, or of friends—

or even of fiendish conspirators seeking to sparse it all,

the importance of bone,

authenticity,

and porcelain itself—

cups, saucers, trios of plates,

tureens, platters, younger-older mates,

even candle-stick holders that prompt inquiries

about how they are all materially related as

a jovial chap wonders.

Calendar-in-Motion

This spring-time in the fall may be the last time

to remember the forgotten dreams of summer

to make an autumnal push toward vernal change

in these weeks and months to come in winter next

to absorb and vet seasonal un-doings or downfalls

to look up and gaze forward sans sense of pause

to shifting shadows and up-lifting turns of fortune

that may leap from previous states over others

to a current affirmation of chance-destiny-fate.

Game-Time Recollection in the Age of E-Mail

—with apologies to W.W.

I forgot to remember to recall all the many

messages I had inadvertently remanded to the

mathematical control manifold master center.

But then after midnight it proverbially dawned

on me and the cliché light bulb went on and on

as I saw the ghostly profile of a friendly five-

digit manual member switch from off position

to an emotional on to hand me a welcome win

and everything was left in tranquil perspective

allowing me back in the fold again able to move.

Impromptu_ I can't read/absorb it so readily, even in the age of email.
