afternoon rainstorm . . .
the black dog jumps when he hears
the clap of thunder



tail end of July—
grasshopper on the sidewalk
is a dragonfly!




my mother’s birthday—
I slice bananas into
a bowl of rolled oats




overcast morning
two crows fly across the lot
followed by two more




January fly
has anyone told you that
it’s January?
