Ten Haiku Poems by John Pappas

Ten Haiku

the last tremor

of a damselfly’s wing:

autumn

fatherless a paper boat taking on water

occupation

the church bells fill

with silence

huddled outside

the empty village

quaking aspens

perseid shower

a harvest of gold

star mothers

drought

the index of our

indifference

hiking alone

a conversation

with my father

perseid hunting the silence between stars

hospice

will she ever finish

middlemarch

rereading the book of genesis spring wind
