Five Poems by Inam Hussain Begg Mullick

A Gymnast Disrobes the Universe

Bipolar

lovers,

monkeys the electric drunkards,

Karna is

alive, flying tigress,

you,

who are on a quest,

frighten

the cynical

stars,

forget-me-nots

blooming,

engines

and

your mouth of water lilies,

rabbits,

and photons

in your vast

mental

landscape,

what is

the shape of

mourning?

Nymph,

share with me this rain

and your

hidden ache

and your

paintings from the abyss,

a beast

trying to be gentle

is trying

still,

I am at the meeting point

of sun and art,

Odin is awakened

and at bliss,

the sky

drowns

you, you touch

the Eridanus.

"A libidinous cat"

A libidinous cat

eats

the night clouds,

an insect worships

Edgar Allan Poe,

I made some moonlight

to shine

on your nakedness,

we raid

hell's auditorium

and recover

a saxophone sunset,

my sense of history

cracks,

who won the battle of Plassey?

We beguile our time

watching

a wicked star

as high appellations crumble,

the horror

the horror

a city

drenched in platinum

is your recent address,

your lips

the shade of an easy gree,

I know

your gentle face

and the wrath

within,

all is not lost,

Juliet,

in our underground opera

of contraband songs,

the blade of love

cuts less.

In your hands

In your hands

darkness

is a toy,

night's engines

engulf

the wind,

city of paperwork dream

witnesses Adam's rising

lust for witches,

in the arc of moonlight

you sing,

ducks populate

the hut of witchcraft,

winter becomes music,

what is more urgent

than me meeting you

in the garden of apricots?

Inamorato Travels Through The Seasons And Thunderstorms

 Writing a love poem

is like building a home

or a palace brick by

brick,

stone by stone,

metal by

metal,

for someone who may not live there,

leaves fly,

the cat is on

whiskey,

bleeding

feet of an

autumnal

dawn,

her body

is a sulphur

prism,

she watches

the war on the television and dreamt

of a large

lioness

with luminous

periwinkle nerves

last winter,

after the numberless odysseys in silence

they who have departed

now fly

with angels

I uttered a few words,

too late

for the tavern? never too late

to drink

of your mysterious spirit,

love

is rain

on leaves,

hypnotic

river,

flowering,

the cordial curves

of that familiar

body

and an ecstatic turtle, liquiform flutesong

a mystic conflagration and time's hieroglyphic jugglery

desire's hot dust,

you weren't scared

you even remarked upon the several tints

of the sun at apocalypse,

earth of wolves, earth of sheep, astral cattle, may glory be!

Amorino Breathing

1

The table is ink,

serviettes o lyrical gymnasts,

the barmaid is queen moon

sharks observed from quarter light.

2

The majorette sweating

dream, amorino breathing tattoos.

3

Floating

head in xenon lamp,

trussed arch night

and Andromeda.

4

In a corridor,

a muse erupts.

5

A stylus of solid perfume

paints a tavern,

triakis

and pentacrinus, loving so much.
