One Poem by Clive Gresswell

Battle Royal

deep down

the hairs-width

longing increased

by forever draws

to last in shades

and fallow-fields

eclipsed with wings

the flight of fanciful regret

his peers dancing in the pit

repeating only the chants

& magical parades beyond

these fields & subtle wards

the bitter end where frenzied

axemen spilled blood of ancient

rhymers in typically laid out futures

their language locked in sensitive returns

the questions posed but never passed

the searing soaring heart of things

the splendid dying of the kings.
