Two Haiku, Two Tanka and One Poem by Marie C Lecrivain

Haiku

rain mixes

with summer dust

sunrise can wait

rain drops

on marigolds

I still weep for you

Tanka

on rainy nights

I remember when

you held me

and made me believe

love is real

a sliver of moon

floats by my window

I dream

of sailing

on the wind

Strength (VIII)

(Rider Waite Smith)

In your dream

you’re 1,000 feet tall

your mountain perch shrunk

down to a footstool.

You’re dressed like Gaia

in roses and catnip.

Your leonine companion

can’t stop licking your wrists,

but you learned

a long time ago

that your mercurial

and lazy ego

likes to be rewarded

for its occasional compromise.

This is the secret

of your success.

Maybe you’ll remember

that little detail

when next you wake.
