Three Poems by CG Inglis

Dundas Square

Screens flicker:

            a smile & its teeth;

            clothing;

            clothing;

            SALE –

the whitewashed pavement;

a progress of bodies

through backlit

smoke.

King Palace

In echo of the road’s curve,

the hollowed face of an apartment:

balconies in slanting rows,

concrete and

chicken

wire.

Further:

a menu printed on a wall,

plated curries framed

in yellow.

The towering sign

rising from a planter

choked w/

coffee cups,

plastic bottles,

weeds.

Highway

Asphalt;

lamp posts;

flowers on a cross.

A woman’s hands,

white-knuckled.

Traffic.
