One Poem by Fotoula Reynolds

The duration of life

I look up at the mountain

And it blasts my heart open

I am gnarly in my soul, today

So, I embroider my loneliness

With cross-stitches of yours

Because I am naive of

The duration of life

A weave of longing and

A call to journey

Pulls on my every thread

No matter where my soles are

On earth, through sky and sun

And a forest moistened by

The breath of god

I feel regal in the space of

Stillness like being born

Kissed by stars and crowned

By the light of the moon

This is where I meet patience

In night’s nameless place

Time survives inside

The more than ordinary

Surface of words and

It pings on memories

That are lost in a landscape

Too far away to radiate

The wisdom of my ancestors

A runway of humble trees

Don’t allow my life to sink

They appear timidly in

Dreams and heartbeats

Begging my attention for

A moment before slowly fading
