Three Poems by Andy N

Dust

One by one

everything we write

will fade from the page

music lost to the world

in a stuttering breeze

Galaxies into dust

following you open-mouthed

on the beach

and into the ocean,

hand in hand

through an emotional glass ceiling

splintering into dust.

Life following death.

Alienation

Over-lapping Society

the countryside covers our cities

like numbed fingers

overlocked doors,

freewheeling over beaches

cutting a swathe

over chipped caves

holding our darkness in its bones,

stood on the spur

behind stone buildings

subsumed in guilt

wishing not to be held accountable

for man’s mistakes.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia played a part

before and after

from where you used to walk

and then returned to

hunched in an emotional mirror

over the footpath

intermittent whiffs of burnt smoke

over the burnt-down remains

of an old residential house

still lingering generations later

echoed in the past

our relationship with nature

abandoned everything something goes wrong

decoupled into

two different warring sides.
